Dangerous Gifts for the Holidays

Like Ralphie from A Christmas Story, some people just want dangerous gifts for Christmas.

Here is a list of gifts you might want to rethink giving.

Hoverboards:
These gained popularity since the Back to the Future celebration. But some boards have begun exploding. There have been over 30 emergency room visits as a result of these fires.

Remote Controlled Helicopters:
These toys can be incredibly dangerous. The propellers move quickly enough to cut skin on the arms and face. Some higher end models, with stiffer blades, have been known to kill or seriously injure bystanders. They also like to get caught in long hair. (It happened to me once.)

Homemade Christmas Treats:
While they are usually made with love, homemade treats can contain any number of ingredients that could be dangerous. From gluten-intolerance to nut and dairy allergies, you never really know everything that goes into these goodies.

Knives:
Please make sure to use some common sense when giving a knife. Make sure that the recipient understands and excersices knife safety! All knives from kitchen knives to pocket knives can cause serious harm to people.

Legos:
These little blocks pose the usual choking hazard risk to children. The real danger from these toys is when you step on them.
